Problem of Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease which is marked by degeneration of the articular cartilage, hypertrophy or enlargement of the bone margins or ends, and changes in synovial membrane (the covering of the articular cartilage). Osteoarthritis is a non inflammatory condition accompanied by pain and stiffness in the joints. Osteoarthritis generally occurs in the weight bearing joints such as knee joints, ankle joints, joints of the spine etc.
Osteoarthritis of knee is a common problem faced by many individuals including sportspersons. Osteoarthritis of any joint including knee joint can occur to anybody and commonly seen among sports persons and a well known sportsperson with Osteoarthritis of knee is Hank Aaron the well known baseball player. Hank Aaron is also known for his fight against osteoarthritis and his involvement in encouraging individuals with osteoarthritis. He, along with a pharmaceutical company and well known orthopedic surgeon has teamed up to fight the common disease osteoarthritis, which affects millions of individuals all over the world. Hank Aaron does the job of encouraging people to fight the disease.
Hank Aaron was diagnosed with osteoarthritis after his retirement from professional sports and it was a difficult time for him to accept that due to the disease (osteoarthritis) he will have trouble even walking short distance. This made him determined to find a way out of the situation and he found the way. He then made it a mission to help others with osteoarthritis, and suffer from the disease, because he was not a guy to accept defeat and he is still fighting for the noble cause of helping millions of individuals with osteoarthritis.
