Know about Percocet

Percocet is the brand name of generic drug combination of acetaminophen (commonly known as paracetamol, used in fever to reduce temperature) and oxycodone, an opioid analgesic or pain killer. Other brand names of this combination (acetaminophen plus oxycodone) are Endocet, Magnacet, NArvox, Tylox etc.

Oxycodone belongs to a group of medication known as narcotic (opioid pain relievers) pain relievers (pain killers). Narcotic pain relievers should always be used with caution, as they have addiction liability, although the addiction liability of oxycodone is much less in compare to opioid analgesics such as morphine. Acetaminophen is also a commonly used pain reliever, although it is less potent analgesic. But when combined with oxycodone, it (acetaminophen) improves the pain relieving property of oxycodone. But the most common use of acetaminophen is in fever to bring down body temperature. Acetaminophen is arguably the best antipyretic (which lower body temperature in fever) drug.
